Activities

2007-2008 Officer Project
  • Issue: Student Government provided funding to the Yellowjacket Buzz in November 2007 to help publish at least two papers ($500). As of February 2008, The Buzz still hadn't been published. In reaction, Shawn Patterson and Glenn Watson choose to write their own paper, known as The Student Government Chronicles to provide a "challenge" to the Journalism classes to publish. The 12 page pamphlet was approved by Mr. Freccia, Principal Bedford and Assistant Principal Jefferson and was distributed in the halls in early March.
  • Result: Prickled by the Student Government paper, Journalism published three papers within the next three months - the second of which featured personal attacks against the authors, which led to a The News Journal article "Read all about it: Journalism gets going at Newark High" (4/30/2008).
