Homecoming 2006 - Under the Sea

Background:

• Selected as Homecoming theme at the Final Student Government meeting of 2005-2006 school year (May 2006)
• "Under the Sea" beat out "Paris at Night," "Vegas Casino," and "Tropical Evening" as the 2006 theme
• Props were ordered from Stumps on August 24th, arrived at NHS on September 19th
• Homecoming was originally scheduled to take place with the game on October 13 (vs. Charter) and the dance October 14. Due to inservice day activities in the school on October 13th and with NHS being a SAT testing site on October 14th, Homecoming was moved to the previous weekend (October 6th for the game and October 7th for the dance).
• Due to inclement weather on Friday, October 6th the PepFest was moved in-doors during 7th period and the underclass court was announced then instead of during the Homecoming Halftime Show. Float judging still took place at the game, with the winner announced during Halftime.

Spirit Week

• Monday - Twin Day
• Tuesday - 80's Day
• Wednesday - Hat Day
• Thursday - Senior's Teach Day (nine seniors taught at least one block)
• Friday - Spirit Day

Powderpuff Football Game (Juniors v. Seniors)

• Game on Thursday, October 5th at 6:30 ($5.00 entry fee)
• Presented by the Junior Class as a Prom Fundraiser
• Seniors (Class of 2007) defeated the Juniors (Class of 2008) 20-14

Homecoming Game 2006 (v. Delcastle):

• Newark (2-3) defeated Delcastle (0-5) 44-14
• 2006 Hallway Contest winning class: Class of 2008 (Junior Class, E-Hallway w/ 24 votes)
  • Second Place - Class of 2010 (Freshman Class, D-Hallway w/ 23 votes)
  • Third Place - Class of 2007 (Senior Class, B-Hallway w/ 20 votes)
  • Fourth Place - Class of 2009 (Sophomore Class, C-Hallway w/ 5 votes)
• 2006 Homecoming Class float winner: Class of 2008 (Junior Class w/ 6 votes)
  • Second Place - Class of 2010 (Freshman Class w/ 5 votes)
  • Third Place - Class of 2009 (Sophomore Class w/ 3 votes)
